Category B award winner – Geoffrey Lloyd Geoffrey Lloyd cycled from Land’s End to John O’ Groats with the view of raising funds to extend a home for respite care of seriously ill and disabled children. His work was a success as the new building in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire was opened by Dame Norma Major in September 2008. He completed the ride in May 2007 while recovering from cancer treatment and at the age of 66, 73 miles a day for 14 days was a commendable effort. The headwind as far the Severn Bridge and showers did not stop Geoffrey and he was encouraged further by the donations and extraordinary support he received along the way. Members of the local Rotary Club of Kimbolton Castle raised £7,000 for the Dreamdrops charity and were on hand with the support vehicle; a few fellow Rotarians also joined Geoffrey for a few legs of the ride.
