Award category B applicants Stephen & Richard Taylor were pleased to report their ride went very successfully with out any breakdowns or mechanical failures.Stephen’s wife Rosemary drove the car for support, and to make it easier for her as she was only used to driving locally, their route avoided any large towns or cities. Without satellite navigation and just by the use of a road atlas, they all did a brilliant job of co-ordinating stops and getting from A to B. There was the Forth Road Bridge though, where she ended up making the crossing three times… Their journey, which started at Land’s End on the 9th July 2008, took them 14 days and they arrived at John O’ Groats in good form. The family, from Fernhill Heath, Worcestershire, also collected £5,200 for St Richard’s Hospice; Acorns Children’s Hospice; Maggs Day Centre and St Paul’s Hostel. Updated: 26th July 2010 |
