Award Category B applicant Peter Clare on the 10th October 2008 after setting off 14 days and 960 miles earlier from Land’s End.With his wife as his only means of support, Peter, who is 66, raised £1,561.08 for The ITP Support Association. This is a UK registered charity which aims to promote and improve the general welfare of patients, and the families of patients, with Immune (Idiopathic) Thrombocytopenic Purpura, a condition affecting the platelets in people’s blood that can lead to extreme bruising and bleeding. A witty photograph, taken in Scotland, shows a signpost, both directions pointing to Loch Lomond, implying the song lyrics, “I’ll take the high road, and you take the low road”. Whichever route you take, there is no avoiding the hills, and Peter did very well to finish in such a respectable time. Updated: 26th July 2010 |
