Award category B Runner up Robert Wall to mark his 50th Birthday and to raise money for Hillside School in Brighton where he is the headmaster. The school is for children with severe learning difficulties and Robert was able to raise £4,000 for them. Robert was “foolishly” joined by his brother on the ride and their wives provided the support following on in their vehicle. They all had a great time, riding through some fantastic places and met some amazing people. There was a few minutes of panic among the team when the support vehicle was lost in a car park in Street while the riders were waiting for clean clothes, but it was soon recovered. The August rain was a constant companion on the ride too but Robert says the very rare day cycling through Glencoe in sunshine with the wind behind them was a magical moment. Updated: 26th July 2010 |
