Overnight Accomodation
There are many routes to choose from when going from one
end to another, as a general guide the direct route (via motorways) is
about 838 miles, or avoiding motorways (but still on main roads) is about
891 miles. However you may choose to be more adventurous and do either
the east or west coast, or go via your home town etc. we are always interested
to discover your journeys so why not recommend a route to others via
this website. Please see below our top 5 tips for planning a route.
Top 5 tips for route planning:
- Be realistic about how many miles you can do each day.
You don't want to be in the middle of climbing Ben Nevis when your boss is expecting you to attend a meeting.
- Choose a route that's suited more to your taste and/or ability, i.e. countryside/hills/beaches/cities/ mountains/motorways/main roads or B roads.
- If your method involves a lot of leg or arm work, train, train, train! It will help prevent strains/tiredness and prepare you for the length of the journey.
- If you're doing it on your own or in a small group, have back-up or friends you can meet along the way.
- Make sure you have a list of useful telephone numbers, whether it be for a breakdown, credit card loss or to find out what time the campsite closes.
